Food, Drink and Shopping

Dining & Restaurants

The region has several foods for which it is well known.  Banh Canh and Banh Xeo (above) are seafood pancakes and in Ninh Thuan they are cooked in traditional Cham pottery.  Phan Rang Chicken and Rice is a simple dish that doesn't need much more description.  Of Course fresh seafood is available everywhere as well.  Western food can be found but some of the restaurants closed during Covid.

Vietnamese Food

Seafood - Can be found just about everywhere but for an adventurous Vietnamese style experience, the area near the Saigon Ninh Chu Hotel has restaurants where you can choose your dish from a tank and eat it on the beach.

Banh Xeo / Banh Canh - Also can be found in many places but for the most traditional street food experience, take the access road to the beach that is near the Sunrise Hotel (on Yen Ninh Street) and choose one of the street vendors set up on the sidewalk.

Vietnamese Restaurants - The area behind the large statue on Muoi Sau Thang Tu is a popular new area with many restaurants open for dinner.  Many coffee  cafes are also in that area.  Vietnamese barbeque (above) is very popular.

Western Food

My Hoa Kitesurfing Schools - Most foreign tourists that stay in Ninh Thuan kitesurf.  They spend most their time at My Hoa which is 15 km north of our place.  Sorrentos (above), Phi's Kite School, Phan Rang Kite Center, and Vietnam Surf Camp all serve good non-Vietnamese food.

Le Napoli - A popular pizza restaurant located on Yen Ninh Street near the center of the bay.

Resorts on Yen Ninh - The resorts which line Ninh Chu Bay all have restaurants with non-Vietnamese food on their menus along with extensive seafood and Vietnamese dishes.

Fast Food - If you are craving a hamburger, then find one of the Lotteries or Jolibees that are in Phan Rang.

Shopping

Vincom Plaza - Has the best grocery store in the area (Vinmart), several fast food restaurants, some shops, and a movie theater.  It's located on Muoi Sau Thang Tu, near the big park.

Convenience Stores - There are a couple modern convenience stores located in the village at the north end of Yen Ninh Street.

Local Markets - There's a seafood market on the other side of Ninh Chu Bridge, a food market near the convenience stores, and the Phan Rang Market in the center of Phan Rang.  None are especially nice to visit.

MyWine Store -  If you are looking for a nice bottle of wine, we suggest MyWine 91 Quang Trung Street in Phan Rang.

Rip Curl - Located on Yen Ninh Street next to Le Napoli, has beach apparel.

Night Life

Ninh Thuan has never been known for its nightlife, and now a number of bars and restaurants closed during Covid shutdowns.  It's hard to say what will be open.  Here are a few things to do:

  • Le Napoli - Pizza restaurant with a bar and pool table out back.  One of the few places where westerners hang out while in Phan Rang.
  • Sorrentos - Kitesurfing hotel/restaurant/school that's quite nice and relaxed.
  • Resort Beach and Rooftop Bars - Several resorts have recently opened and have nice bars.
  • The April 16th Park (pointy building/statures) and Binh Son Beach Park are popular spots at night for the locals.  Lots of people, street vendors, and toys for children.

We recommend not going to any night clubs in the area as they can be dangerous
